The Raconteurs (ft. Ricky Skaggs and Ashley Monroe) - Old Enough

Hello!
Saw this yesterday on yahoo!
I kind of like it, saw the Raconteurs at Benicassim last summer and got beerbuckets thrown on me literally about 16 times (bad karma), so I was really soaked and sticky and had a hard time to enjoy the show.
But I later heard that they were pretty nice actually.
For their next single, The Raconteurs produced this bluegrass cross-over with Ricky Skaggs and Ashley Monroe.
I have to admit I'm not that big of an autority on the subject of bluegrass, except for my weekly to Bluegrass Radio: http://www.bluegrassradio.org/
But at least I just about barely heard of Ricky Skaggs to save my honour! ;)
Let's hope it raises some extra interest in bluegrass.
Here's the vid.
And here's the mp3:
The Raconteurs (ft. Ricky Skaggs and Ashley Monroe) - Old Enough
There's a bit of debate over the fact if this is the actual single version or just a studio video.
I have no idea... But it sounds nice anyway and they don't forget to mention the Everly Brothers.
Hope you enjoy it and 'till next time!
Byebye!

Gabry - Danny (Denise cover of Randy and The Rainbows or Blondie if you're not into Doowop)
Hey!
It's a new day and I figured that if I really wanted to keep up the illusion of being a proper blogger I should post more chizzle like covers and b-sides and stuff...
Well, here's a cover for you:
Gabry - Danny (Denise cover of Randy and The Rainbows or Blondie if you're not into Doowop)
Yeah, I think it's pretty hilarious! :p
If you arn't Dutch, you probably still get the picture!
See you next time!
Niek
PS: How old is that Gabry anyway?

Sky Larkin - Fossil, I

Hello there!
I'm pretty sure you might have caught some of the buzz surrounding the whole new 'Los Campesinos!' tour if you are a little interested in them.
They're aiming in turning their new tour in some sort of 'social event'!
America gets 'No Age' (hmm...) and 'Times New Viking' to join them 'en stage' and Europe gets 'Lovvers' and 'Sky Larkin'.
They're both pretty U.K. and I like Sky Larkin the most of the two. (as in, I like them a much!)
If you know me by now you know I couldn't resist posting a illegal mp3 of them now.
It's their new digital single 'Fossil, I'.
Here's a mp3:
Sky Larkin - Fossil, I (mp3)
And here's the video:
SKY LARKIN 'Fossil, I' from Sky Larkin on Vimeo.
Yeah, that's it for now!
See you at the Los Campesinos! show in de Melkweg on the 11th of November! :)
Bye!

PS: Don't worry, Sky Larkin, I'm sure everybody will click on their itunes to buy the song after they heard it once! :)

Arthur Russell - Close My Eyes

Hey!
I thought I could make some people happy with this song.
Arthur Russell - Close My Eyes (mp3)
It's from the forthcoming 'Love is overtaking me' compilation of unreleased folk-songs by Arthur Russell, whose music I love.
That compilation should be out on the 27th or 28th of October depending on where you live.
You might want to buy it or not.
Byebye! :)

Feist - 1234 (Sesame Street Version) -> A little better then the rip on most blogs...
Hello!
As you may or may not have noticed, our dear friend Feist has appeared on Sesame Street performing a educative version of her 1234 hit!!!!!
Here's a video:
As you can imagine, a lot of bloggers immediately felt happy too and posted this vid.
Some of them also posted a mp3 of this version along with it, but I thought the quality of those wasn't oo great...
So I did a rip myself and it's little better I think, but it's still a rip! Don't expect the world! :p
Here's my mp3:
Feist - 1234 (Sesame Street Version) -> A little better then the rip on most blogs...
I really like this song...
This version is très cute!
Love!

Wim T Schippers presenteert Jacques Plafond and his Plafonnières - Hark! (1980)

Hello!
A while back ago I also posted this post, but the link expired and I gave it a link and stuff...
And before you know it, it had to be posted again!
So here it is again!!! :D
A while back ago I also posted this post, but the link expired and I gave it a link and stuff...
And before you know it, it had to be posted again!
So here it is again!!! :D
Not-so-suprisingly there were exactly zero downloads when I uploaded some old bellydancer-music and alternative japanese pop on monday...
So this time we're going with something even more obscure! :D
I've ripped some old vinyl of mine for you!
It's a Dutch record by Jacques Plafond and his Plafonnières.
The name of the album is Hark! and it's from 1980.
It had a very limited release back in the day and is pretty hard to find.
You can download it here:
Wim T Schippers presenteert Jacques Plafond and his Plaffonières - Hark! (1980)
Wim T Schippers presenteert Jacques Plafond and his Plaffonières - Hark! (1980)
Jacques Plafond is a ehhmm... how do you say it in english... fake name? Nickname? Well a pseudo-name for the great Wim T. Schippers, maker of supberd surrealistic theater and radio + the voice of Ernie and Count von Count.
This record is his claim for dutch musical glory in english!
I hope you like it, 'cause it took a hell of a lot of time to rip it...
It should get a reissue with some covers soon too...
But... I don't know the details...
So, thanks for the attention and bye! :)

It's Jens Lekman performing Black Cab live at the Parish in Austin, Tex., on March 13, 2008, it orginialy was a recording bij NPR Music.
Black Cab always was about my favorite song of 'Oh! You're so silence, Jens' and this version has conga and cello!
So here you are:

You know, it actually takes a lot of time ripping these concerts ...
Cutting all the songs, removing the babbling, exporting, importing, naming, ripping, looking for pictures and writing summery's about it!
...
Well, it's done for now anyway! :p
See you next time!

Magnetic Fields - I don't believe you (single) + Take Ecstacy with me (Alternative Version)

Heyhey!
How are you? Like the blog? :)
As promised, here are some more Magnetic Fields songs!
I noticed that the I don't believe you single is pretty hard to find, which is a shame!
It's probably the last time the Magnetic Fields sounded bubblegummy like on Holiday (Though The Gothic Archies are in that catagory too!)
So here it is. including the B-side:
The Magnetic Fields - I don't believe you
---------------------------------------------
01. I don't believe you (single version) (mp3)
02. When I'm not looking you're not there (mp3)
And here is a different version of 'Take Ecstacy with me' featuring vocals by Susan Anway:
The Magnetic Fields - Take Ecstacy with me (Susan Sings) (mp3)
It actually took me about three years to find out that the version of take ecstacy with me I had wasn't the one from the album, but this one! :p
So hope you like it!
I do!

The first one: Introduction, Neon Neon and Jamie Lidell

Hello!
As you can see, this is my first post.
Because of that, I guess a introduction wouldn't be a bad thing! :)
My name is Niek, I'm Dutch, 18 years old and I make music under the name Yoshimi!.
Yoshimi! is not a band, it's just one person, me! I usually make music, alone, with my trusty computer and instruments. I don't want to brag, but I play a lot of instruments. Here are some in which I am more qualified: Cello, Conga, Guitar, Synth, Bass, Bongo, Tarbuka, Rababa, Harmonium, Trumpet, Accordeon, Euphonium, Drums, Ukulele and some other small things... Every instrument, or better said, everything you hear on my songs is played, sung, yelled or squeezed by myself. I also do my own vocals, production and artwork. What I don't do is using samples by other artists. Oh... Yeah! And I also make videos!!!
You can check me out at http://www.yoshiminotaband.com/ and www.myspace.com/yoshimiaintdead.
But I havn't made this blog for self-promotion, but more to get some new music to you which you otherwise might never had heard.
I've read a lot of blogs the lost couple of years and what always suprises me is how little obscurities actually can be found by certain new and popular artists!
Let me give you a example, here I have for you a live cover version of 'Searching For Mr Right' and T2's 'Heartbroken' by Neon Neon, performed for BBC Radio 1.
You can see the video here: XXXXXX
And you can download the song in mp3 here:
Neon Neon - Searching for Mr Right / Heartbroken (mp3)
I'm pretty sure this is the only place where you can download this song in a mp3 at the moment.
But I really enjoy this and can listen to it anywhere.
My aim is to make this sort of obscurities avaiable to you for your pleasure! :)
Well anyways, I hope you like it too!
I'll be back pretty soon with more stuff like this!
Bye!
Niek
PS: Here is another good rip of something you can't find at too many places:
It's a live version of a 'New Song' by Jamie Lidell...
